i had to #OSTCompJam
A downloadable soundtrack
The theme of the jam is: a journey to remember.
The concept of "i had to" is a third-person exploration narrative game where the player controls an adult character returning to his hometown in the countryside, remembering his childhood as a boy playing in the wilds.
The gameplay switches from survival-exploration as the kid with low poly art to the narrative exploration as the adult with realistic assets, contrasting from the abstract view of the world as the kid to the boring adult. At one point in the game, the actions of the adult begin to influence the world of the kid, as the adult is induced with false memories from nostalgia, becoming an unreliable narrator.
The presented soundtrack is a compilation, showing a bit of each part of the full work, being:
- Overture (the boy, exploring)
- Exploration (as the boy) @57sec
- Survival (as the adult remembers) @1:26min
- Foggy moments of nostalgia (as the adult) @1:48min
- Ending (as the adult finds out the true memories of his childhood) @3:03min
I won't tell the ending
